Move-out cleaning inspection – how to get it approved

When you move out, the next owner or the landlord wants to take over a clean home. Here's who checks the move-out cleaning, what's usually inspected, how to prepare — and what to do if something was missed.

Who checks the move-out cleaning?

If you're selling a co-op apartment or a house, it's usually the buyer who goes through the home on handover. In a rental, the landlord often checks the cleaning when you move out. With Pandy, you as the customer approve the move-out cleaning — do it as soon as possible after it's done, or ask someone you trust to do it for you.

What's usually inspected

  • Cooker and oven, inside and out — including trays and racks
  • Fridge and freezer, inside and out
  • Cooker hood, cover and filter
  • Bathroom: walls, tiles, floor drain, toilet and behind the bath panel
  • All cupboards, drawers and wardrobes, inside too
  • Windows — window cleaning is always included in Pandy's move-out cleaning
  • Skirting boards, doors, door frames, sockets and radiators

Prepare before the cleaners arrive

  • Defrost the fridge and freezer in good time
  • Pull out the appliances so we can reach behind
  • Remove the bath panel and pull out the washing machine
  • Deal with stains on walls, wallpaper and ceiling
  • Get rid of bulky waste
  • Make sure the lighting works

If something was missed

Let us know within 48 hours after the cleaning, ideally with photos, and we fix it at no extra cost. Photos make it much easier to see what needs doing. After 48 hours the job counts as approved.

Remember that the satisfaction guarantee applies to you as the customer — not to whoever takes over the home. So go through the cleaning yourself before you hand over the keys.

What's not included

Move-out cleaning covers standard wiping and cleaning. If the home needs more, such as heavy-duty bathroom cleaning or sanitation, that's booked separately. For safety reasons we don't clean above three metres, and move-out cleaning is only done in empty homes — if you're still living there, deep cleaning is a better fit.
