How do you mount a TV on the wall?
Mounting your TV on the wall isn't just a great way to save space – it also creates a modern, minimalist look in your home. But it can definitely be a challenging task if you don't know what you're doing... In this article, we give you step-by-step instructions on how to mount a TV on the wall and some important tips to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Keep this in mind when mounting a TV on the wall:
1. Buy the right type of bracket
There are many different types of brackets to choose from, for example fixed brackets and full-motion brackets that can be adjusted to change the viewing angle. It's important to choose a bracket that's compatible with your TV model and has enough weight and size capacity. For example, a large TV can be too heavy for some full-motion brackets – but the type of wall you have also matters (see point 3).
2. Choose a suitable spot for the TV
Before you start mounting your TV on the wall, you need to choose a suitable spot, so give it some extra thought. Think about the view from the sofa and make sure the TV will be placed at a height that's comfortable to watch. It's also important to choose a spot where you have access to power outlets and any cables you need for connections.
3. Check that the wall is suitable
Before you start mounting your TV on the wall, you also need to check that the wall is suitable. It's important to mount your TV on a stable, solid wall. If you plan to mount the TV on a plasterboard wall, make sure you use the right type of anchors to secure the bracket in place (when you book TV mounting with Pandy, screws and plugs are on us, and of course we bring a hammer drill for concrete walls). NOTE: It's important to be sure there are no electrical cables or water pipes where you're going to drill.
4. Mount the bracket on the wall
Once you've chosen the right bracket and checked that the wall is stable, you can mount the bracket on the wall. Make sure you follow the manufacturer's installation instructions and use the right tools to avoid damaging your TV or wall. If you don't have the right tools, you can ask a neighbour or friend, or rent them.
5. Create a clean and organised look
Once the TV is in place, you can tidy things up by hiding cables and connections. There are different ways to do this, for example running cables through a cable duct or hiding them behind furniture. It's also important to think about the placement of any soundbars to create a uniform look. Go for it!
In summary
There's quite a lot to think about when mounting a TV on the wall. Not just where you want to place it, but also following the correct instructions so you don't damage your wall, cables, pipes or TV. Of course, we'll help you if you feel unsure!
