Packing takes the longest
Count on roughly one moving box per square metre. A packer packs about 7–10 boxes an hour. This is how long packing takes for one person:
- Studio, approx. 30 sqm (about 30 boxes): about 3–4.5 hours
- One-bedroom, approx. 50 sqm (about 50 boxes): about 5–7 hours
- Two-bedroom, approx. 70 sqm (about 70 boxes): about 7–10 hours
- Three-bedroom, approx. 90 sqm (about 90 boxes): about 9–13 hours
- House, approx. 130 sqm (about 130 boxes): about 13–19 hours
With two people packing, it goes roughly twice as fast. If you pack yourself, expect it to take longer.
What decides how long the move itself takes
- How much is being moved — and whether everything is packed when the movers arrive
- Stairs without a lift, or furniture that doesn't fit in the lift
- How far it is to carry between the door and the van
- Furniture that has to be taken apart and reassembled
- How long the drive is between the addresses
How to make it faster
- Finish packing before moving day — and label every box with its room
- Arrange parking near the door and have door codes and keys ready
- Take apart what you can in advance, and keep the screws in a labelled bag
- Book the lift or loading bay if the housing association has one

How long does it take to pack a one-bedroom apartment?
Count on about 50 boxes for a 50 sqm one-bedroom. A packer packs 7–10 boxes an hour, so it takes about 5–7 hours for one person.
How long does the move itself take?
It depends on how much is being moved, stairs and lift, the carrying distance and the drive. Fill in the form and you get a free quote based on the estimated time.
Can you move and do the move-out cleaning on the same day?
You can, but it's nice to have some margin. You can book move-out cleaning in the same booking as the move.
Is the move cheaper if everything is packed?
Yes, with an hourly rate you pay for the time it takes. If everything is packed and labelled, the move goes faster.
